Updates from Our Calf Scramble Sponsees

One of our favorite ways to give back to the community is by sponsoring two calves at the Houston Calf Scramble event during the Houston Rodeo.   The calf scramble program was started in 1942.  Each student that catches a calf during the calf scramble event at the Houston Rodeo wins a $1,750 certificate to purchase a heifer or steer to be showed at the next year’s rodeo.  Amazing Spaces is proud to sponsor two individuals each year.  Each month, our sponsees give us an update on their calf’s progress.  It’s Amazing to watch these calves grow and the experience the fine young adults have raising them.

Our first calf scramble sponsee update for the month is about Justin!

Justin says it’s nearly crunch time now that Ava has turned 5 months old and is about ready to move to her new home.  Justin visits Ava at nearby farm, but has begun preparations to bring her to his family’s farm soon.  Justin’s about 5 weeks away from showing Ava at the fair and is ready to get her started on her training!  Justin is excited to see Ava’s progress and train her to be the best heifer at the Houston Rodeo.

Our second calf scramble sponsee update is from Jordan!

Daisy and Jordan had a very busy month in August in preparation of Jordan’s freshman year of high school!  Jordan will now be able to join the FFA and take agriculture classes.  The lessons she will learn will surely be valuable as she continues to raise calves and become more involved in 4-H.   Daisy was very busy the past month, as well.  She made a new friend in the pasture, weighed in at 100 pounds, and watched as other cows received antibiotics.  Oh, to live the life in a pasture!

We’ll continue to post updates about our Amazing calf scramble sponsees.
