Staying Positive During a Move
Moving can be a stressful time for anyone. They say it’s is one of the most difficult things you’ll experience in life, along with death and divorce. Moving can also comes with positive change and that should not be overlooked. In order to focus on the good throughout your transition, we’ve come up with a list of ways to stay positive and calm during your big move.
- Make Packing Fun! Packing can sometimes put a damper on your mood once you really think about your move. Try making it more of a fun event by inviting some friends over, opening a bottle of wine, and playing your favorite hit songs (and maybe singing along) while you pack.
- Get Enough Sleep. If you’re moving in the middle of a job change or school, the only hours you have to organize, pack, and clean might be late at night. Remember that your mind and body will work best when they have proper sleep. Try to keep a consistent bedtime so you can get the most out of your waking hours.
- Stick to Your Regular Diet. With all the hustle and bustle of moving, good eating habits tend to go by the wayside. Your body needs nutrients to manage stress and maintain health so be sure to include fresh vegetables, fruits, and plenty of drinking water in your daily eating.
- Think Positive. This may sound repetitive, but it’s important to focus on the good things that come out of moving to a new place rather than the bad. Think about things like getting to explore a new area or redecorating in your brand new place. Try making a list of all the positive things that will come with your move and pull it out whenever you’re feeling frustrated.
