Halloween Activities in Houston
Houston is offering so many Halloween-related activities this October. Whether you’re planning a spooky night on the town with your friends or taking your little ghouls and goblins out for some family fun, we’ve got you covered. Check out our list of some of the best events going on this month!
Events for Monsters and Mummies Only:
Paranormal Pub Tour (7-10PM Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
On this paranormal tour, you’ll hear two ghost stories at the Spaghetti Warehouse, then walk with your guide to two more bars in historic buildings and end your pub tour at the Houston Watch Company Bar with happy-hour prices and the story of Houston’s first double hanging in 1838.
Wicked Woods Party (7:30-11PM October 31st)
Get bewitched and have a spooky good time under the crescent moon and the shimmering stars. You’ll walk on lantern-lit trails and enjoy a variety of food stations paired with “witch’s brew”, or beer, from local breweries. Telescopes will be available to view the night sky with members of the Houston Astronomical Society. Costumes are encouraged!
Spirits and Skeletons (8PM-Midnight October 31st)
Have a totally rad Halloween at Spirits & Skeletons. Enjoy a full dance floor and DJ, a master magician, some serious eats, and even some creepy crawly concoctions courtesy of the Bug Chef!
Events for the Little Ghouls and Goblins:
Boo on the Boardwalk (October 9th – 31st)
For the entire month of October, Kemah is hosting Boo on the Boardwalk where families can enjoy an array of Halloween themed activities. For the braver souls, face the dungeon of doom while the kids enjoy the Little Boo Haunted Fun house. Other attractions include pumpkin decorating, live entertainment and costume contests.
Hocus Pocus Pops (October 23rd 7:30PM)
Get into the spirit of Halloween as the Houston Symphony returns for a night of bone-chilling music and spooky sounds with Hocus Pocus Pops. Jump on the Great Pumpkin Express as it leaves the station to sweep you away on a tour of The Pavilion’s haunted grounds. Pre-concert activities begin at 6PM, concert starts at 7:30PM. Costumes are encouraged.
Zoo Boo (October 16th – November 1st (9AM-4PM Every Sunday, Friday, Saturday)
The last three weekends in October, Zoo Boo at the Houston Zoo turns in to a Halloween party. Explore the pumpkin patch, go “trunk”-or-treating, and participate in a costume parade while seeing the animals.
Scream on the Green (October 30th 6-10PM)
Have a spooky good time at Houston’s eighth annual citywide costume contest and Halloween celebration! Prizes, music and more! Watch the Book of Life presented by Bank of America. (PG) 2014, 95 min.
Haunted Houses:
A few more well-known choices are: Scream World, Phobia, and Nightmare on the Bayou
Or mix it up a little at the National Museum of Funeral History’s 4th Annual Haunted House
This family-friendly haunted house is designed to give goose bumps to young and old alike while taking a light-hearted view of a usually very serious subject. The house is rated PG-13. Children under 12 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
