Valentine’s Day in Houston 2016

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner (and on a Sunday this year, score!), so if you’ve been shot by cupid’s bow then it’s time to pull that bottle of wine out of storage and start planning out your romantic day to celebrate with your love. We’ve got the lowdown on some of the best St. Valentine’s events around Houston for you to swoon over right here:

Dine in Style

The city’s culinary scene is continuously regarded as one of the best in the nation, so it’s worth braving the crowds on this holiday. Many restaurants are offering special Valentine’s Day menus. For a complete list, click here– and be sure to make your reservations early before they book up!

Spend the Day on a Cruise

There’s nothing better than enjoying fine foods, drinks, and possibly dancing the night away underneath the stars. Houston has three options for taking your love aboard. You can book a ride on the Spirit of the Bayou for their Cupid’s Cruise, where $40 gets you sweet treats, bubbly, romantic ambiance, and spectacular views of downtown Houston. Or, if you’re looking for something a little more unique, head to Hermann Park for the “Valentine’s Day Dinner and a Cruise.” For $50, you can enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner for two on the Pinewood Café patio, followed by a half-hour cruise in a pedal boat on the lake. Finally, for $300 per couple, you can enjoy a Romance on the Water Cruise in The Woodlands hosted by Landry’s Seafood. This cruise comes with a five-course meal and a complimentary bottle of wine.

Valentine’s Day Farmers Market Bike Ride

This is a great idea if you plan on treating yourself or a loved one to a delicious home cooked meal. You might as well enjoy a nice bike ride and opt for the freshest & tastiest around! Did you know many of our local restaurateurs shop at the Farmers Markets each week for handcrafted cheeses, local produce, baked goods, and locally sourced organic meats? You will meet at Onion Creek, 3106 White Oak Dr, Houston, TX 77007 at 8:30AM. Please DO NOT park in the Onion Creek lot – there is parking on the surrounding streets but look out for ‘no parking’ signs. Free for members and non-members.

Name a Roach After an Ex

Starting February 1, guests of the Houston Museum of Natural Science can name a roach after anyone of their choosing through the museum’s website. Recipients will receive a certificate via email announcing that a cockroach was named in their honor, and their namesakes will live in the Cockrell Butterfly Center, if they want to stop by and say hello.
